Career Biography

Gordon A. Wiru is an astute Ghanaian corporate lawyer of almost 27 years’ standing at the Bar. He holds very solid academic credentials – a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (second Class Upper Division) from the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra (1997), a Professional Certificate (Barrister and Solicitor) from the Ghana School of Law (1999) and a Master of Laws (LLM) in International and Comparative Law from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Indiana University – Indianapolis, USA (2004).

Called to the Ghana Bar in 1999 and beginning his career shortly thereafter, Mr. Gordon A. Wiru has represented and provided corporate legal services in the fields of insurance regulation and reinsurance practice, pensions, telecommunications and broadcasting regulation, and is currently in the aviation industry where he heads the Legal and Company Secretariat of the Ghana Airports Company Limited. His current work centres on general corporate law practice and advice for the company and also includes industry specific matters, such as participating in the negotiation and signing of Bilateral Air Services Agreements between Ghana and other countries and participating in other cooperative arrangements in aviation matters between Ghana and her partners. Mr. Wiru also frequently represents his Company and country at international aviation fora.

Beyond this, Mr. Wiru has over the years, obtained a solid grasp of the general corporate law environment in Ghana and other countries and is also well versed in the regulatory and Governmental relations aspects of corporate legal practice in Ghana.
