Career Biography

Angela Aku Enyonam Hohoabu is a seasoned legal professional with over two decades of experience spanning human rights, banking legal and compliance, and petroleum law. Called to the Ghana Bar in 2003, she has spent the last 14 years at GNPC, where she currently serves as Manager for Legal. In this role, she supports negotiations, provides strategic legal input on petroleum and gas agreements, advises on regulatory and governance matters, and coordinates legal support across departments.

Angela’s career reflects a unique blend of public and private sector experience. Prior to joining GNPC, she served at the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and later at Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, where she handled both legal and compliance responsibilities.

She holds an LLM in Petroleum Law and Policy from the University of Dundee and is a proud alumna of the University of Ghana, the Ghana School of Law, and St. Roses Senior High School.

Angela is recognised for her strategic thinking, collaborative leadership, and commitment to ethical legal practice. She is a member of the Ghana Bar Association, International Bar Association, and the Association of International Energy Negotiators, and was recognized at the inaugural GC Powerlist Ghana 2025. In August 2025, she was appointed as a Notary Public, a testament to her standing in the legal profession.

Angela was named Top Corporate Legal Leader of the Year (Oil & Gas – Upstream) at the General Counsel & Corporate Legal Leadership Awards Africa 2025. This honour celebrates her outstanding contribution to the oil and gas industry through strategic legal expertise, her commitment to regulatory excellence, and her impactful leadership in Ghana’s energy legal landscape. In addition, the GNPC Legal Team was awarded Legal Team of the Year – State-Owned Enterprises category for their exceptional work in contract negotiations, compliance, governance, and interdepartmental legal support across GNPC’s operations.
