Career biography

Mrs. Amelia Croffie was appointed Head of the Legal Department and General Counsel of Agricultural Development Bank PLC (ADB PLC) in December 2021 and is a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee. She brings over 31 years of extensive experience in corporate law, banking, and legal advocacy, with a distinguished career spanning from academia, venture finance, and banking.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Honours, Upper Division) in Law, Classical History and Civilization from the University of Ghana (1989), a Qualifying Certificate in Law from the Ghana School of Law (1991), and a Master of Business Administration (Human Resource Option) from the University of Ghana (2003).

Mrs. Croffie began her professional career as a Teaching Assistant in Criminal Law and Police Administration at the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, where she completed her national service. She later joined Activity Venture Finance Company Limited (AVFCL), a government regulated venture capital finance company established to pioneer and promote venture capital financing as a complement to traditional lending in the financial sector.

At AVFCL, she served in several senior roles, including acting as Board Secretary. In recognition of her expertise, she was nominated as AVFCL’s representative on the Board of Directors of the then Midland Savings & Loans Limited. She also served for several years as a member of the Board of Directors of Nyankumase Ahenkro Rural Bank in the Central Region of Ghana, contributing to governance oversight and strategic direction. Mrs. Croffie is currently a Director of Agridev Real Estates Limited, a company partly owned by ADB PLC.

As General Counsel of ADB PLC, Mrs. Croffie has provided strategic legal advice on major financial transactions, contractual arrangements, and regulatory matters. Her leadership has strengthened the Bank’s legal and governance framework, supported compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and mitigated legal and operational risks. Through her work, she has played a key role in safeguarding the Bank’s interests and supporting its strategic objectives.

Mrs. Croffie’s career reflects a consistent record of leadership, sound judgment, and commitment to excellence in legal practice and financial sector development.

She is the current National Treasurer of the Ghana Bar Association. Amelia is also a Notary Public.
