Céline Castillon-Valéro took over the lead of ALD Automotive’s legal function on April 2019, taking over from Amélie de Valroger in the process. The team is seven in number and has had an extremely rewarding last two years, having worked on a number of strategically important and high-value deals. In particular, the acquisition of three new entities – Merrion in Ireland, Reflex in Spain and Stern Lease in The Netherlands – allowed the team to flex its M&A muscles, and it also spearheaded the IPO on the Euronext Paris in June 2017. It has also signed strategic partnerships with Amazon, Vinli, EON and ChargePoint, the latter two in relation to new electric vehicles for the company. Internally, it has implemented a number of major regulatory compliance initiatives in relation to GDPR and the Insurance Distribution Directive and has cemented excellent relations with internal business units; it was named best business partner for 2018 by the ALD Automotive sales department. Valroger provided an extremely positive summation of the team’s internal culture: ‘People have made the real wealth of this team. I would say that kindness, mutual assistance, commitment and team spirit have been the driving forces behind our success’.
