Career Biography

Tristan Minyati is a legal executive with over 15 years of experience supporting multinational organisations across Africa and other emerging markets. As General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Trinity Metals Group, and a member of the Group Executive Committee, he oversees legal, compliance, governance, and government affairs functions for Rwanda’s largest investment mining company.

Throughout his career, Tristan has worked alongside talented teams to navigate complex legal landscapes, particularly in corporate law, M&A, regulatory compliance, and risk management. He has contributed to the successful negotiation of large-scale mining agreements, shareholder transactions, and tax-efficient mergers. His role was pivotal in the formation of Trinity Metals and in securing the first-ever U.S. DFC Technical Assistance Grant awarded to a mining operation in Africa.

Tristan has led the development of an Integrated Compliance Management System and helped strengthen governance frameworks and reduce litigation risk across the group. Prior to joining Trinity Metals, he served as Rule of Law Advisor to the United Nations in Mali and held senior legal roles such as Judicial Advisor to the Supreme Court of Rwanda.

He holds two master’s degrees in international and European Law of Fundamental Human Rights and Business Law and has been admitted to practice law in Rwanda as a member of the Rwanda Bar Association and East Africa Law Society since 2010.
