Nicolai Bakovic Hudig, general counsel of Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (Codelco) continues to impress following on from his inclusion in the inaugural GC Powerlist: Chile in 2017. He continues to maintain his respected position as one of the leading general counsels in the mining sector. In 2018 and 2019, he has been involved in several relevant transactions, such as an agreement with the Ecuadorian government for the development of the Llurimagua Copper Project; a US$1.3bn bond issuance in the international markets; a US$600m bond issuance in Taiwan; advancing the development of a BOOT for a Desalination Plant in the north of Chile worth US$1bn; and insolvency proceedings of Astaldi and re-negotiation of construction agreements with Astaldi for the Chuquicamata and El Teniente mines.
