How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and
how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the
organisation’s resilience?
In the current landscape, the approach to legal management for General Counsels during periods of instability or crisis must be preventive, emphasising the importance of an advanced legal strategy that integrates innovation, sustainability and risk management. This transformation of the legal function towards effective planning, informed decision-making and successful execution is fundamental. In the context of digitalisation and corporate governance, a proactive legal response is required rather than a reactive one, aiming not only to mitigate risks but also to promote responsible growth in the business environment, thereby generating confidence for the future.
The increasing integration of technology and artificial intelligence to optimise operations and advisory services has allowed speed and precision to align with our practice. The implementation of specific tools for contract management, data analysis for regulatory compliance and artificial intelligence platforms in our legal processes has enabled us to be proactive rather than merely adaptive. This drives us to manage large volumes of information more efficiently, orient our practice towards efficiency with security, and prepare our team to lead strategically in response to the contingencies of an evolving regulatory landscape in areas such as data protection, the digital economy and international transactions.
What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core
business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and
ensuring sustainable practices within the company?
The implementation of strategies to incorporate sustainability practices into our operations focuses on leveraging technologies and tools that enhance efficiency and align with our commitment to responsible business practices.
One key measure we have adopted is the integration of automation tools across legal processes, alongside our control and compliance systems. This shift streamlines workflows and significantly reduces reliance on physical resources, thereby minimising our environmental impact. Promoting tools for contract analysis and reducing the administrative burden of managing internal legal inquiries fosters a culture of efficiency and accountability. This innovation supports our sustainability objectives and builds trust with clients and collaborators.
By using predictive analytics to address challenges before they escalate, and standardising documents and contracts locally and globally, we ensure our practices remain consistent with our commitment to sustainable growth. This is achieved through the responsible use of artificial intelligence, guided by the expertise of our legal teams.
