Jeremy C.R. Entwisle started his legal career working at a white-shoe New York firm in their Tokyo, Hong Kong and London offices. He was then recruited to join JPMorgan’s in-house team covering investment banking in Japan and the Asia Pacific region. One of the partners at his former law firm then introduced him to his current company when he became aware that they were looking to fill the role. ‘I was able to leverage my international experience as I transitioned from a career in finance law, to a more multi-faceted practice in-house at a multinational manufacturer’, says Entwisle. During his career, the majority of his professional highlights are associated with helping to achieve business success while managing avoidable risks. The second testament to his success is when he is able to make a positive impact on the culture of the company by helping to address negative issues and improve the working environment. ‘While these matters are usually difficult, legally complicated and extremely stressful, when you are able to see the positive impact of your work on people’s day-to-day working lives, it is extremely satisfying and motivating’, says Entwisle. When discussing the transactions he has been involved in, he states that managing the research and collaboration agreements that led to the development and introduction of myopia control lenses into the market, in Asia – this was an important move in terms of bringing a product to market that has a positive impact on the lives of children. Entwisle also manages several patent litigation matters as both defendant as well as plaintiff. ‘I enjoy litigation because it gives me the opportunity to interact with the engineers and inventors that develop our products, which provides me an additional understanding of the products we sell as well as insight into the business’, explains Entwisle.
