Stanwell Corporation is a Queensland government-owned corporation and is the state’s largest electricity generator. For the last 15 years Philip Ware has been the general counsel of Stanwell corporation and its predecessor corporation, Tarong Energy, and in providing support and leadership of the legal team of the largest electricity generator in Queensland and one of the largest in Australia, is directly responsible for six lawyers and has dotted line relationships with six others outside of the core legal team. As of 2015 Stanwell held assets worth approximately $3.3bn AUD and enjoys an annual revenue of around $1.5bn AUD, and in order to safeguard these results across the company’s business units and assets a fast-responding and perceptive legal support in a range of different practice areas is required.
