About

In 2015, Optus announced a bold strategy to transition from a traditional telecommunications provider into a multimedia entertainment company with its acquisition of the media rights for English Premier League football. Melissa Quinn joined Optus in 2016 to support the television and content business, bringing significant media expertise from her previous roles at Fox Sports Australia and Blake Dawson (now Ashurst).

Since joining Optus, Quinn has played an integral role in the company’s expansion of its sports rights portfolio and the development of innovative content offerings which have been credited as key factors in Optus achieving substantial postpaid handset customer growth. Recognised by nominators as a ‘strategic partner who adds value in every interaction across a broad spectrum of legal, commercial and operational issues’, Quinn has guided this emerging area of Optus’ business with strategic and commercial advice, while at the same time developing new governance frameworks and supporting the team in managing legal risks.

Quinn’s peers praise her specialist knowledge, pragmatism and influencing skills, noting that her ‘responsiveness, proactive approach and genuine desire to help’ are truly valued and she is commended for her leadership, work ethic and proven ability to add strategic and commercial value.
