Esmilce Romina Estigarribia Larrea, Head of Legal & Compliance at Itaú Seguros Paraguay, is currently responsible for legal affairs, regulatory compliance, and corporate policies. 

With a strong academic and professional background, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to the insurance sector, institutional governance, regulatory affairs, and corporate governance, combining a legal perspective with a strategic business outlook, enriched by operational understanding and applicable industry regulations. 

She is a legal and business professional with dual undergraduate degrees in Law (2013) and as a Public Notary (2017) from the National University of Asunción. Her academic credentials are further strengthened by national and international specialisations, including a Master’s in Corporate Compliance awarded by the Catholic University of Murcia and CEUPE European Business School, Madrid, Spain (2023); certification in UNE-ISO 19600:2015 Guidelines from TÜV NORD, Madrid, Spain (2023); a Diploma in Insurance Law from the Catholic University of Our Lady of the Assumption, Asunción, Paraguay; and a Latin American Specialisation in Anti-Money Laundering Risk Prevention and Business Administration (2020), among others. 

These qualifications have enabled her to advise with strong knowledge of the local regulatory environment, as well as an understanding of international market practices and experience in the areas in which she has specialised. 

Her contributions as in-house counsel have included, on more than one occasion, the creation and structuring of the legal function. She has supported several strategic business initiatives, product development, and the implementation of corporate governance rules within the insurance sector, prioritising and promoting regulatory compliance, adherence to best ethical practices, and integrity. In addition, she has contributed to the review and discussion of regulatory projects and draft legislation in the insurance sector and is a member of civil associations focused on law.
