What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past twelve months?
The development of a new 43,000 sqm logistics center: “Megacentro Industriales Sur Expansion” and the sale of Lot 2 at Megacentro Lurín – Cold and Dry Storage Warehouses (Megacentro Lurín – Emergent Cold).
Are there any particular challenges for which in-house counsel should be preparing in 2026?
2026 will be a year of significant change for in-house counsel, driven by political, technological and market developments. In Peru, the electoral context is expected to bring increased regulatory uncertainty, requiring legal teams to adopt a proactive and risk-based approach to support business decision-making.
At the same time, the accelerated adoption of artificial intelligence presents an opportunity to enhance productivity and efficiency within legal departments, provided these tools are integrated responsibly and without losing sound legal judgment. From a sector perspective, the continued growth of the logistics and warehouse market points to 2026 as a year of consolidation for high-standard warehouse assets, increasing the importance of strong legal structures, compliance and strategic risk management.
What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?
The most important attributes of a modern in-house counsel are closely linked to a deep understanding of the business. Beyond legal expertise, in-house counsel must have a strong grasp of the company’s operations, commercial dynamics and strategic objectives, as an integrated legal function helps reduce contingencies and support sustainable business growth.
In-house counsel should be actively involved in all stages of the company’s projects, from initial structuring through to operations, acting as a strategic business partner. Their role is to serve as a bridge between legal and operational teams, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective risk management without hindering the development of the business.
In this context, the ability to anticipate risks, provide practical solutions, and align legal frameworks with operational realities is a defining attribute of modern in-house counsel.
