What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past twelve months?
Over the past period, I was involved in the implementation of an e-delivery system in Poland, providing comprehensive coordination and supervision of all legal and legislative aspects of the project. The e-delivery system enables communication between citizens and the state to be conducted entirely electronically, ultimately eliminating the use of traditional paper circulation, allowing the use of electronic identities, and ensuring security at the highest global standard.
I also contributed to the project implementing the eIDAS 2.0 regulation in Poland, establishing the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet). My role included comprehensive coordination and supervision of legal and legislative services, covering the development of agreements with digital service providers, draft legislation, and legal opinions.
What are the key trends that in-house counsel should be monitoring in 2026?
In my opinion, the main trend likely to have a significant impact on the work of in-house lawyers in 2026 will be the use of AI in day-to-day activities. It is clear that AI can effectively replace humans in certain legal tasks. Nevertheless, I am firmly convinced that AI is not capable of completely replacing lawyers, but it will change the way legal advice is delivered. In my work, I observe the positive impact of this development on the automation of repetitive and standard processes. Consistent and careful training of AI models is already improving efficiency in legal work. Sooner or later, every lawyer will encounter AI in their work, and it is better to adapt our professional standards to this phenomenon now.
Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?
Throughout my entire legal career, I am associated with the IT and new technologies sector. For over 20 years, I have managed the legal departments of the largest IT companies in Poland and Europe. Currently, I manage the legal department of Centralny Ośrodek Informatyki which, in essence acts as a software house for the Republic of Poland. The legal department consists of the legal team, the procurement team, the compliance team, and the legislation team. My unique experience in managing legal departments and complex IT projects in the private sector enables me to provide comprehensive and effective legal services and legal and legislative support for projects digitising the functioning of the state and public services. This combination of experience in the private and public sectors is unique on the Polish legal services market, and I believe that it contributes to maintaining Poland’s status as a leader in the digitisation of the state in Europe from the legal perspective.
What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
In addition to providing legal services for the IT sector, my primary passion is arbitration. For several years, I have served as an arbitrator listed with the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce, a role in which my experience and judicial diploma are invaluable. I adjudicate complex cases that align with my expertise, significantly broadening my legal horizons. This process is further enriched by the opportunity to deliberate alongside some of Poland’s most esteemed lawyers.
Importantly, I believe that parties who choose arbitration can be confident of receiving a swift decision of the highest substantive quality. Unfortunately, in my view, arbitration in Poland remains underappreciated. I consider this work a vital complement to my legal career and value it highly.
