What are the most significant cases, projects and transactions that you and your legal team have recently been involved in?
I joined Axelspace in February as the sole legal counsel, so I haven’t been involved in many projects or cases yet. I hope to contribute to Axelspace in the future by offering new or different perspectives based on my experience from different industries.
How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
This may be just a cliché but I believe nothing is more important than being vigilant about any developments in various areas, from geopolitics to employee sentiments, so that not only the legal team but also the company can act quickly and early. And first and foremost, keep your cool and integrity intact no matter what.
Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?
My previous experience as a fixed-term lawyer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided valuable insight into governmental operations, their thought processes, and inter-ministry relationships. This experience has aided my performance as an in-house lawyer from government contracts to regulations.
What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about? Why is this?
I am committed to paying it forward to society. Personally, I am passionate about volunteering and donation. My most recent donation was my hair to an NPO that creates wigs for children and youth under 18 suffering from hair loss, which means my profile photo doesn’t reflect my current look. Professionally, I believe Axelspace, as a satellite image provider, is uniquely positioned to contribute to the greater good of society from various perspectives, including disaster prevention and recovery, climate change, and human rights, because satellite images can capture views otherwise, difficult to obtain around the globe. Axelspace is also uniquely positioned as a one-stop provider for microsatellite missions and has established the “Green Spacecraft Standard” to promote a balance between space business and sustainability. This set of guidelines spans the entire satellite lifecycle, from planning and design to manufacturing, operation, and end-of-life disposal, ensuring environmentally conscious practices at every stage. I am excited to see how Axelspace evolves as the company grows.
