Bio
Stephanía Bresque is a seasoned legal executive with over 15 years of experience in corporate law, compliance, and data privacy across Latin America and Europe. Currently serving as director, legal counsel for UPM South America, she leads the Uruguayan legal team and is a member of the Uruguay management team. Her role involves strategic legal oversight of UPM’s operations in Uruguay, including direct engagement with government entities and participation in high-level negotiations.
Previously, Stephanía held key positions within UPM’s global legal structure, including group counsel for privacy seating in the headquarters in Finland and compliance counsel for the Americas. Her work has spanned regulatory compliance, internal investigations, M&A, and the implementation of privacy and other governance frameworks.
Before joining UPM, she was a senior associate at Ferrere, where part of the leadership of the personal data protection practice and advised multinational clients on regulatory and commercial matters. She holds a Doctor in Law and a postgraduate degree in Global Law and Technology from Universidad de Montevideo, and is currently pursuing an executive MBA at Universidad ORT.
Fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese, Stephanía is also a certified CIPP/E and has participated as a speaker in numerous legal and compliance forums across the region.
