Career Biography

Steven Velthuysen is a seasoned legal professional with over 25 years of experience in the corporate, company secretarial, commercial, and human resources sectors. Currently serving as the Executive: Legal, Secretarial, and Human Resources at Clover Proprietary Limited, Steven oversees the legal and HR departments, providing comprehensive corporate and commercial legal services and leading talent, culture, and organisational strategies.

Steven’s career at Clover began in 2013, where he initially held the position of Group Manager: Legal. His responsibilities included managing the legal department, company secretarial duties, and overseeing indirect procurement, group fleet, and facilities. Prior to joining Clover, Steven was the Group Manager: Legal Services at Pioneer Foods Limited, where he played a pivotal role in counselling business units on various commercial and legal matters, managing intellectual property portfolios, and implementing company policies and governance frameworks.

Steven holds a BCom Law and LLB from the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University), an LLM in Corporate Law from Unisa, and a Professional Post-Graduate Qualification in Company Secretarial and Governance Practice from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of South Africa. He has also completed the Senior Management Development Programme at Stellenbosch University.

In addition to his formal education, Steven has undertaken numerous courses and certifications, including mergers and acquisitions, compliance, intellectual property, and competition law. His extensive expertise and proactive approach make him a valuable asset in any corporate environment.
