Career Biography

Bronwen was appointed group general counsel (including group company secretarial function) for Cassava Technologies (Cassava) in February 2025.

Previously, she was the chief legal and compliance officer and company secretary at Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Africa. She brings over 23 years of experience to the organisation, overseeing complex legal, corporate governance and operational matters. She has managed large in-house legal, company secretarial and operational teams.

Her role places her at the intersection of strategy, governance, and organisational leadership, where she works closely with C-Suite executives and Boards across
Africa, the Middle East, and the United States to enable growth while strengthening governance and operational resilience.

Prior to joining the Cassava Group, Zehmke had a long tenure at the Absa/Barclays group, where she held several senior executive positions, in both legal and operations. In 2013, she became the chief of staff to the chairman of the group board, a role she held for five years before serving as group deputy company secretary.

Zehmke holds an LLB degree (Cum Laude), two Master’s degrees in Law (LLM) and Business (MBA), and an international Compliance qualification (CCEP-I) and is in the process of completing her International Companies Secretaries qualification. She is an admitted member of the High Court of South Africa and a member in good standing of the Gauteng Law Society.
