Career Biography
Kavi is general counsel and a Partner in Brunswick Group, a global strategic advisory firm focused on critical issues at the center of business, politics and society. She leads on all legal and contractual issues with clients and vendors in the U.S. She also advises on litigation, labor and employment matters, commercial production, media and intellectual property issues, and regulatory and compliance matters, working closely with and partnering with senior leadership, and leading a small but mighty legal team in the U.S. and the U.K.
Previously, Kavi was vice president, deputy general counsel of Gizmodo Media Group (publisher of Gizmodo, Deadspin, Jezebel, Jalopnik, The Onion and The Root) and was responsible for the business, advertising, sponsored content, commerce/deals, production and licensing areas of GMG, and provided counsel to reporters and editors on First Amendment, defamation, right of publicity, copyright and fair use, social media, litigation, newsgathering and FOIA/access issues. Kavi was Deputy General Counsel of Gawker Media and prior to that, Counsel at NBCUniversal, handling reality television-related work for Bravo, Oxygen and Style, and later, content acquisitions and original productions for USA, Syfy, Chiller and Cloo. She started her career as a trial lawyer at Boies, Schiller and Flexner. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and Wesleyan University.
