Career Biography
Cecilia Ortega is a Vice President on the CIB Legal Mexico team at BNP Paribas Mexico. She advises the Global Markets and Global Banking lines of business on a full spectrum of legal and regulatory matters, drafts and negotiates commercial documentation, and oversees corporate-governance issues for BNP Paribas. In addition, she supports internal functions to ensure legal risk is managed across the organisation.

Prior to her role at BNP Paribas, Cecilia worked as a Markets, Products & Structuring Lawyer, Director at UBS for two years and at JPMorgan Mexico for nine years, where she held several roles within the legal team, including Mexico Private-Banking Legal Head.

Among some of her recent achievements, Cecilia has participated in the implementation of new regulations and provided legal advice on structured cross-border transactions.

Cecilia holds a law degree (J.D. equivalent) from the Escuela Libre de Derecho.
