Spotlight on: My role at SimCorp

My name is Martin Schak Møller, I am the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of SimCorp A/S. The group legal and compliance team in SimCorp is around 20 FTEs.

In addition to managing the Legal and Compliance teams in SimCorp, I also have the line management responsibility for Contract Management, Group Information Security and Group Procurement and Vendor Management in SimCorp with a total # of ~ 70 FTEs.

Our SimCorp One cloud solution targets the top investment managers of this world. As all our clients and potential clients are financially regulated entities, our legal and compliance strategy is to enable SimCorp to deliver software and services which are easily consumable by our clients, which again means that we need to be on the forefront with the key legal and compliance demands of financial institutions worldwide and translate those into key design criteria for our service and development organisation. This is only done via a close business partnership with the entire business of SimCorp. This allows us to establish a framework for continuously delivering software and services of a standard that meet and exceed clients’ regulatory needs.

From a resilience perspective, we are very much aligning with the requirements set by DORA and NIS2 and we are currently in charge of driving the group-wide program in SimCorp to enable SimCorp to meet these requirements which apply to us both directly and indirectly.

I also have the overall responsibility for rolling-out a contract lifecycle management solution in the SimCorp organisation, with our customer facing part of the business expecting to go-live in June 2025. This includes significant AI capabilities to allow SimCorp to more efficiently deal with contracts, both pre- and post-signing.

As for significant deals, I was acting as the general counsel of SimCorp in the 2023 public- to private deal whereby Deutsche Börse acquired SimCorp and thus, I was a key stakeholder working with board of directors, management, key employees and external advisors in connection with this significant transaction. A transaction that contributed to awarding my Deutsche Börse colleagues the Legal 500 In-house Germany M&A Team of the Year 2024. Further, we have subsequently acquired and integrated Axioma Inc. into SimCorp.
