How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

During periods of instability or crises we do not always know what challenges or opportunities lies ahead. We try to prepare for the unexpected. Preparing for the unexpected is about the mindset that will determine how we handle critical situations, as we do not always know what exactly we are preparing for.

Thus, it becomes even more critical to make sure that the legal team masters teamwork both within the legal department, cross functional within the company and within the group. Also, a great network of external advisors is instrumental to navigate complex situations.

Thus, we continuously encourage cross functional collaboration and knowledge sharing supporting that trust is established and the backbone of interactions.

When knowing and trusting each other we believe that we are better equipped to handle complex situations.

What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

The overall legal team collaborates with and provides legal support to the other departments and companies within the group on operational matters as well as corporate, investment and M&A activities. Our legal organization has undergone significant growth over the past years since 2020 when Lars Larsen Group was conceptually established as a Family Office. Today, the legal department is divided into three primary areas. The area “Commercial & Compliance “mainly provides support on commercial contracts, IPR and marketing etc., and compliance issues, e.g. compliance programs.

The area “Corporate & Investments” provides support on e.g. treasury programs, various corporate issues, commitments to Private Equity and M&A processes e.g. within real estate.

The area “Legal Support” handles KYC-processes on behalf of the group, provides general support programs to the legal team and has recently taken on projects within automation, legal operation and AI.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

Believe that AI holds great possibilities for internal legal departments enabling the team leaving them with input and time to drive value creating.

Human insights and assessments are valuable, and I believe that AI will create time for valuable human creative thinking and interaction with others and thus should be embraced.
