< strong> Biography
Ingrid Pahl Maya is a distinguished legal executive with over two decades of experience in the financial sector, widely recognised for her expertise in regulatory affairs, corporate law, and institutional structuring.
Her earlier career at Citibank and HSBC further solidified her legal and financial credentials. At HSBC, she structured treasury transactions and advised on syndicated loans and corporate banking operations. At Citibank, she held senior legal roles and participated in a Latin American legal exchange program, supporting the integration of acquired banks in five countries of Central America and managing litigation risk across multiple jurisdictions.
One of her most outstanding career achievements was the creation and legal establishment of Itaú BBA Colombia, a milestone that reflects her deep understanding of Colombia’s regulatory environment and her exceptional ability to navigate complex legal frameworks.
As vice president of legal and general secretary at Itaú BBA (2011–2016), Ingrid led the complete legal process to secure the operating license from Colombia’s Superintendencia Financiera, a task that required rigorous preparation, regulatory coordination, and strategic foresight. She ensured full compliance with local financial laws and internal policies from Itaú’s headquarters in Brazil. In parallel, she also secured approval for the opening of three representative offices of Itaú Group in Colombia, managing all regulatory documentation, legal manuals, and procedures necessary for their authorisation and operation.
During her tenure at Itaú, she was responsible for the legal structuring and financing of major investment banking projects, including the construction of a solid and liquid bulk port in Cartagena and a coal-fired power generation plant.
As general manager of Itaú BBA Colombia (2017–2019), she took on the leadership of the institution, overseeing both legal and strategic operations. Remarkably, throughout her tenure, the organisation did not face any legal proceedings, regulatory sanctions, or investigations, a great accomplishment in the financial sector that underscores her strong risk management and compliance leadership.
Ingrid’s regulatory acumen continued to shine in her role as senior legal counsel for the Andean Region at Mastercard (2019–present). She currently oversees legal operations across five countries and leads the legal team responsible for regulatory compliance, litigation, and commercial negotiations. She has played a key role in adapting Mastercard’s operations to evolving regulatory frameworks, particularly in Colombia, where she guided legal strategies for ecosystem transformation in the payments market.
She is responsible for providing legal support to the marketing, advertising, and communications area in Latin America, leading the negotiation of all sponsorship agreements managed in the region.
Ingrid also serves as board member of Mastercard Colombia . and another one in the private sector, contributing to corporate governance at the highest level. She actively participates in board meetings, verifies meeting minutes, and ensures regulatory filings are accurate and timely.
Fluent in Spanish, German, Portuguese and English, Ingrid exemplifies leadership, regulatory excellence, and integrity in the financial legal profession. Her career reflects not only deep technical knowledge but also a strategic vision that has transformed legal departments into key pillars of institutional success.
