What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
In my recent experience, I have been involved in several significant, high-impact projects that required strong cross-functional coordination, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate effectively in highly regulated environments. One of my key recent achievements was my involvement in a major asset sale, spanning multiple jurisdictions and involving a broad range of stakeholders. I played an active role in the due diligence process, contract negotiations, and alignment with finance, compliance, and senior leadership. This project required careful management of legal and strategic risks, as well as the ability to navigate tight timelines and complex stakeholder dynamics to ensure a successful and efficient transaction. Another important achievement was my role in the execution of a recall of a regulated Medical Device, a particularly complex and sensitive process.
I supported the coordination of legal and regulatory workstreams, contributing to strategic decision-making, risk mitigation, and interactions with health authorities. Close collaboration with quality, supply chain, and communications teams was essential to ensure a timely, compliant, and well-managed response, minimizing both regulatory and reputational risks. Additionally, I have recently contributed to the management of significant litigation matters across the region, including cases with considerable financial and reputational exposure.
In these matters, I was involved in shaping legal strategies, managing external counsel, and advising internal stakeholders, always ensuring alignment with business priorities and a pragmatic approach to risk and resolution. These recent experiences highlight my ability to manage complexity, deliver results under pressure, and contribute meaningfully to the organization’s strategic objectives.
How is your organisation adapting to the rapid evolution of data protection, AI governance and cybersecurity requirements in Brazil?
As the leader of the Legal and Compliance function for Latin America, our organization has been proactively adapting to the rapid evolution of data protection, AI governance, and cybersecurity requirements in LATAM by strengthening governance, enhancing cross-functional collaboration, and embedding compliance into business operations. From a data protection perspective, we have continued to mature our privacy program in alignment with the LGPD (in Brazil), evolving from baseline compliance to a more risk-based and operational approach. This includes regular data mapping, ongoing review of processing activities, and strengthening our incident response framework.
We also ensure that privacy-by-design principles are embedded early in business initiatives. In relation to AI governance, we have taken a proactive approach in a still-evolving regulatory landscape. We have implemented internal governance structures to assess AI-related risks, including guidelines for responsible use, legal and ethical risk assessments, and alignment with global standards and emerging best practices.
Legal and Compliance play a central role in advising on transparency, accountability, and risk mitigation. Regarding cybersecurity, we work closely with our product teams and Information Security to ensure a coordinated approach. Our focus includes governance, incident readiness, and regulatory compliance, particularly around breach notification obligations. We also promote internal awareness, recognizing cybersecurity as a shared responsibility.
A key element across all these areas is strong cross-functional integration, with Legal and Compliance embedded in business decision-making. This enables us to anticipate risks, support innovation, and ensure regulatory alignment. Overall, our approach is to move toward a forward-looking, integrated, and risk-based model, positioning the organization to effectively navigate Brazil’s evolving regulatory landscape.
How have economic fluctuations, exchange‑rate volatility or supply‑chain pressures in 2026 influenced your legal priorities?
One of the key impacts has been the need to strengthen contractual frameworks to better manage financial and operational risks. We have focused on revisiting key commercial agreements to address currency fluctuation, pricing adjustments, and liability allocation, ensuring greater flexibility and resilience in a volatile environment. This includes closer attention to indexation clauses, renegotiation mechanisms, and risk-sharing provisions with suppliers and partners.
Exchange rate volatility has also driven increased involvement from Legal in financial and strategic decision-making, particularly in cross-border transactions and intercompany arrangements. We have worked closely with finance and tax teams to assess legal risks associated with currency exposure, ensuring that contractual structures and payment terms are aligned with both regulatory requirements and business objectives. In parallel, the legal area has been actively engaged in advising on alternative sourcing strategies, reviewing supplier contracts, and mitigating risks related to delays, non-performance, and regulatory compliance.
In highly regulated sectors, this also includes ensuring that any changes in suppliers or logistics remain fully compliant with applicable standards and approvals. These pressures have also led to a greater focus on dispute prevention and management. Overall, these macroeconomic factors have reinforced the role of Legal and Compliance as a strategic business partner, with a stronger emphasis on agility, risk anticipation, and cross-functional collaboration. Our priorities have evolved to not only protect the organization, but also to enable it to operate effectively in a more uncertain and dynamic environment.
