Career Biography
Levi Goossens is a Belgian legal professional with broad experience in indirect taxation, e-commerce, and retail operations. He currently serves as Head of Legal and Compliance at MediaMarkt, covering the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. In this role, he is responsible for the overall legal and compliance framework, corporate governance, and regulatory oversight across the three countries.
He began his career at the law firm Loyens & Loeff, where he worked in the Indirect Tax and Trade department. His work focused on advising multinational clients on VAT, customs, and excise duties, and assisting them with cross-border transactions and trade compliance. In addition to his professional work, he has authored publications on indirect tax and trade law, reflecting his continued engagement with the academic and practical aspects of this field.
During his time at Loyens & Loeff, Levi was seconded for over a year to Amazon, where he supported the company’s VAT Services on Amazon program. In that position, he contributed to the development and implementation of VAT compliance processes for sellers using Amazon’s European marketplaces. The secondment also allowed him to broaden his horizon towards a more general counsel role, becoming more involved in the operational, contractual, and regulatory aspects of large-scale e-commerce.
After his tenure at Loyens & Loeff, Levi joined MediaMarkt, where he extended his practice beyond indirect tax and trade to include the wide array of legal disciplines relevant to consumer electronics retail, such as commercial, consumer, data protection, real estate, intellectual property and corporate law.
In 2024, he was appointed Head of Legal and Compliance for MediaMarkt Benelux. In this role, he has supported several key initiatives, including the launch of Media Markt’s marketplaces in the Netherlands and Belgium, the setup of Media Markt’s own telecom proposition Let’s Go Mobile, and the negotiation of a sponsorship agreement with Feyenoord, a leading soccer club in the highest division in the Netherlands. He is also actively involved in initiatives aimed at strengthening MediaMarkt’s focus on the refurbishment and circular use of products.
