General counsel global cross-border, General counsel international 3PL | bpostgroup
What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past 12 months?
I led the legal workstream for bpostgroup’s strategic acquisition of Staci Group, a major milestone in the company’s international expansion. I directed a multidisciplinary team of internal and external legal advisors across multiple jurisdictions, overseeing all legal aspects of the transaction from due diligence through closing.
Following the acquisition, I assumed the role of legal integration lead, driving the alignment of legal operations, governance frameworks, and compliance protocols across bpostgroup and Staci. A key achievement was the successful onboarding and integration of Staci’s in-house legal team into my department, creating a unified legal function that now supports business activities across Europe, North America, and Asia.
I also lead legal analysis of several digital transformation initiatives within the Global Cross-Border Business Unit, and I spearhead the unit’s engagement with the United for Wildlife Foundation (see below), aligning ESG commitments with operational strategy.
How can general counsel foster a corporate culture that supports ESG principles and compliance across all levels of the organisation?
General counsel play a key role in embedding ESG principles into corporate culture, particularly in cross-border logistics, where regulatory diversity and operational complexity present unique challenges.
It is essential to ensure that teams across jurisdictions understand the legal, ethical, and strategic dimensions of ESG. This includes demonstrating how sustainability and compliance can be integrated into commercial objectives, rather than viewed as competing priorities.
Equally important is fostering dialogue. By actively listening to operational teams and understanding their constraints, legal leaders can provide tailored ESG guidance that is both practical and aligned with business realities, building trust and encouraging adoption.
Crucially, GCs should empower employees to propose sustainability initiatives. At bpostgroup, I proposed that our Global Cross-Border Business Unit join the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce. I worked with business and corporate stakeholders to demonstrate how this ESG-focused initiative is not only ethically sound but also commercially beneficial. Our participation reflects a broader commitment to responsible logistics, and I am proud to lead our conservation efforts.
In a sector where supply chains span continents, and compliance risks are multifaceted, the GC’s ability to connect ESG principles with operational execution is essential to building a resilient and responsible business.
What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
I’m passionate about biodiversity conservation and the role each of us can play in protecting the planet. With a background in conservation, I’ve worked to embed environmental stewardship into corporate strategy, demonstrating that it is both a moral and commercial imperative.
This year, I led our Global Cross-Border Business Unit’s entry into the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce, a coalition combatting illegal wildlife trafficking. Our commitment includes raising awareness, enhancing supply chain vigilance, and collaborating with enforcement agencies, showing how legal leadership can drive sustainability.
I also helped lead bpostgroup’s humanitarian support for Ukraine, successfully advocating for the inclusion of non-perishable pet food in aid shipments. This initiative, embraced by the public and our clients in the pet food industry, reflected compassion, agility, and the power of corporate-community collaboration. As a Ukrainian with immediate family affected by the war, this project was deeply meaningful to me.
