How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
Legal strategy in times of instability must be rooted in risk management and proactive decision-making. The foundation for effective crisis response is built long before a crisis emerges, through solid legal structures and close alignment with leadership. The key is to maintain a clear risk perspective, ensuring that management is engaged and supportive of the chosen approach. Preparation is critical, with scenario planning allowing for adaptability in uncertain situations. The ability to rely on well-established legal frameworks ensures stability, while real-time responsiveness allows the organisation to navigate challenges effectively. Legal strategy should not be isolated but must reinforce broader business objectives, ensuring continuity and long-term resilience.
What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?
One of the most significant recent engagements has been the establishment and securing of the legal framework for funding major infrastructure projects in Denmark. This work involved structuring financing agreements in compliance with Danish and EU regulations, negotiating with governmental and financial stakeholders, and implementing legal safeguards to mitigate risk. The legal strategy ensured that funding mechanisms aligned with long-term infrastructure goals while maintaining financial sustainability. By navigating the complex regulatory landscape and securing essential capital, the legal framework provided the necessary foundation for advancing critical infrastructure developments.
The Corporate & Investments area provides support on treasury programmes, various corporate matters, commitments to private equity, and M&A processes — for example, within real estate.
The Legal Support area handles KYC processes on behalf of the group, provides general support programmes to the legal team, and has recently undertaken projects within automation, legal operations, and AI.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
I believe that AI holds great potential for internal legal departments, enabling the team by providing input and freeing up time to focus on value creation.
Human insights and assessments are valuable, and I believe that AI will create more time for meaningful human creative thinking and interaction with others, and thus should be embraced.
