How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
Given the finite resources every company has, it is the Legal and Risk team’s responsibility to measure the likelihood and impact of various risks (including instability and crises), to enable management to prioritise remediation actions. To that end, my team continuously monitors the macroeconomic and political landscapes to identify emerging risks. We work closely with the leadership on assessing such risks and identifying strategies to mitigate them.
In addition, we monitor legal and regulatory requirements applicable to resilience and crisis management, to ensure that any emerging regulations are complied with.
What are the main cases or transactons that you have been involved in recently?
I recently led all legal and compliance aspects of our acquisition of Numeral SAS, a French payment software provider.
How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?
Building a diverse team is a continuous commitment. In hiring, I prioritise candidates who bring unique perspectives, even if they don’t meet every job requirement on paper. In managing my team, I focus on understanding each individual’s personality to foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels empowered to speak up and be themselves.
What do you see as the major legal challenges for businesses in Switzerland over the next five years, and how are you preparing to address them?
The most significant challenge — and opportunity — for businesses in the coming years is the intelligent adoption of new technologies. The ability to utilise AI tool to drive product development and efficiency will be crucial not only for software companies, but for all businesses. Recognising that AI is fundamentally reshaping the business landscape, I have taken a proactive, two-pronged approach. First, I partnered with the executive team to understand Mambu’s long-term vision for AI. From there, I designed and implemented a governance framework that enables us to innovate with AI at speed, while ensuring we operate responsibly and in full compliance with the law. This initiative has been one of my highest priorities this year.
