Career Biography
Ken Ebanks serves as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of e-commerce giant eBay, based at its international HQ in Bern. As global leader of eBay’s Markets Experience Legal team, Ebanks oversees a team of nearly 100 lawyers around the world, addressing a vast array of cutting-edge legal and technology issues. Ebanks also serves on the Global Markets Leadership Team, a twelve-member body responsible for nearly all aspects of eBay’s business operations. Ebanks is a Board member and Secretary of multiple eBay entities, and has served on the Board of the eBay Foundation and as Interim General Counsel of eBay Inc.
Prior to joining eBay in 2015, Ebanks led the Legal team for Amazon Video EMEA, based in London and Luxembourg. Ebanks also spent many years in major U.S. law firms, most recently as a partner at Covington & Burling LLP in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, where he acted as co-chair of its Corporate group and had a vibrant practice in Entertainment & Technology. During his tenure at Covington, Ebanks was named one of the Top 100 lawyers in Northern California.
Ebanks received his undergraduate degree in Advertising from the University of Florida, and was elected into the UF College of Journalism & Communications Hall of Fame in 2020. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington DC and serves on Georgetown Law’s International Alumni Advisory Board. Ken lives in Geneva.
