Career Biography

After graduating from the Bucharest University Law Faculty in 2003 and joining the Romanian Bar Association in 2004, Mihaela Aliman worked as an associate at international and domestic law firms, became a partner, and eventually established her own legal practice.

While law firm practices were still evolving, she gained exposure to a broad spectrum of legal fields, including corporate governance, M&A, real estate, tax, employment, dispute resolution, and general legal matters. Her work spanned industries such as insurance, construction, iron and steel, and NGOs across various sectors.

Over the past 15 years, she has developed substantial expertise in the energy sector, particularly in areas ranging from renewable energy sources to end-use applications. As a business lawyer, she participated in decision-making, observed organisational dynamics, and gained valuable insights into boards, executives, departments, and organisations. Each perspective offered meaningful understanding. Combined with her passion for problem-solving, facilitating progress, and driving impact, these experiences shaped her realisation that her professional path extended beyond providing legal services.

Her relationship with Renovatio began early in her career as an external advisor and gradually evolved into a deep professional connection, ultimately leading her to join the team. The transition from an external perspective to an internal role was both natural and meaningful, enabling her to develop a balanced combination of legal expertise, management abilities, and a thorough understanding of the company’s operations, culture, and objectives.

At Renovatio, her journey has been marked by continuous evolution — from working as an individual contributor to embracing a collaborative team environment and ultimately participating actively in business management and strategic decision-making as both General Counsel and board member.

Together with the Renovatio team, she has contributed to developing and operating more than 2 GW of renewable energy in Romania and other jurisdictions, implementing EPC services and comprehensive management solutions for renewable energy power plants, and expanding the electricity trading portfolio. These efforts have supported clean energy generation, efficient resource management, and effective responses to market dynamics.

A notable achievement is the creation of the largest electric vehicle (EV) charging station network in Romania, promoting electric mobility and innovation in the energy sector. Renovatio has also achieved significant milestones through major acquisitions and joint ventures with strategic players in the Romanian market, including OMV Petrom and Greenvolt Group, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Throughout these initiatives, Mihaela Aliman has successfully navigated complex legal frameworks and high-stakes negotiations, mitigated legal and regulatory risks, and ensured strong corporate governance aligned with strategic goals. She remains deeply committed to supporting Renovatio’s continued growth by integrating legal expertise with business objectives and enhancing its position as a leader in the renewable energy industry.
