Career Biography

Allegro is one of the largest companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Established in Poznań 25 years ago, Allegro is now an e-commerce platform used by millions across the CEE region. As a Management Board member, Group General Counsel, and Corporate Affairs Director, Tom has navigated the legal and regulatory framework underpinning Allegro’s growth, co-led the largest IPO in the Warsaw bourse’s history, and overseen the group’s international expansion alongside the development of financial services and logistics operations, establishing Allegro as one of Poland’s leaders in each of these areas. Tom’s responsibilities extend far beyond legal affairs, encompassing regulatory and public affairs, ESG, compliance, risk, data protection, information security, business continuity management, insurance, and loss prevention.

Ensuring effective regulatory compliance across Allegro’s operational business units and geographies is critical. This requires adept and determined oversight, recognising the nuances of an increasingly complex EU regulatory environment alongside national differences. Top priorities this year for Allegro include adapting to the new world order, increasing diversification of suppliers to protect shareholder value, and promoting the development and implementation of AI solutions across the company. Tom is a highly respected expert and opinion leader across a range of evolving EU regulatory topics that affect Allegro and the wider EU digital business community. He brings deep understanding of complex multi-jurisdictional issues and is a highly skilled relationship manager with exceptional conflict resolution abilities. Tom leads the PLN 2.3bn lawsuit against Google, a follow-on claim for damages after the courts confirmed the European Commission’s 2017 Google Shopping Case—the largest case of its kind in Polish history.

Tom is President of the Allegro Foundation, which has contributed almost EUR100 million to various causes, including the fight against COVID-19, the consequences of the war in Ukraine, and regional flood relief. Allegro’s online auction platform is made available free of charge to hundreds of NGOs, enabling them to collect funding efficiently. Allegro is passionate about its social responsibilities, and Tom is a fitting champion and guardian in this regard.

Prior to Allegro, Tom – a graduate of Warwick University Law School – worked as Of Counsel at Wardynski & Partners, and served as a Management Board member and General Counsel at WSE-listed companies Netia, Apator, and Magna Polonia. He was Chair of the Brussels-based European Competitive Telecommunications Association and served as Deputy Chair of the SOT KIGEIT. Tom was also a founding member and continues to serve on the Board of the ‘Dorastaj z nami’ (‘Grow with Us’) Foundation, supporting the children of Polish soldiers, police officers, firefighters, and border guards who died in the line of duty.
