What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?  

The role of in-house counsel has gone from a reactive profile to key figures in the business operations and strategy of companies. Today we can say that the legal area is a strategic ally and is almost a business area. It is important that the in-house lawyer has continuous training and acquires business management skills so that he can participate in a better way in negotiations and give added value to the legal function within companies. They should seek to become an essential area in every organization.

In that sense, the in-house lawyer must communicate systematically to make the legal function within the company understood and valued. I believe that we have evolved from a mere conflict manager to become a strategic partner within the company, focusing on risk management and decision making in the company.

In addition, I think that building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, especially in high-pressure or fast-moving scenarios, requires a combination of effective communication, trust-building, and strategic engagement. The most important thing is to be able to understand the needs and priorities of stakeholders.
