What are the projects that you are most proud of working on over the past 12 months?
Since 2021, when I joined PedidosYa, I have been proudly accompanying numerous projects that have contributed to the growth of the company in Paraguay. I am working strategically with the company’s objectives, accompanying all areas, especially key areas such as the commercial and logistics department. I am also supporting the PedidosYa Market team, which is the first 100% online supermarket store in Paraguay launched in 2020 with the most efficient delivery service in Paraguay. Being the first in-house lawyer of PedidosYa in Paraguay has allowed me to create an efficient local structure for the needs of the business and at the same time accompany the regional structure and standards of the regional team to whom we report.

Based on your experiences in the past year, are there any trends in the legal or business world, specific to Paraguay, that you are keeping an eye on that you think other in-house lawyers should be mindful of?
In my case, I can say that the work on platforms has grown exponentially, which means that there are obsolete laws or there are definitely no regulations suited to them. In this sense, I am accompanying the company in the step-by-step process taking place in the region with the emergence of regulations that accompany the growth of the business and also allow growth within the guarantees provided by the existence of a clear and efficient legal framework.

· What are some key attributes every in-house lawyer should possess?
It is essential to understand the business and, to achieve this, it is essential to be integrated into the day-to-day work of the internal clients, all the areas that make up the company. By understanding how they work and what role they play in the company’s structure, the in-house lawyer can identify how to contribute from their role to achieve the business objectives and, above all, to ensure the long-term sustainability of the business.
