What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past 12 months?

State acquiring ownership shares in central gas infrastructure. Ownership shares part of SDFI, managed by Petoro AS.

Extensive share swap on the Norwegian continental shelf (Haltenbanken) between Petoro and Equinor.

Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?

Since 2011, I have had the privilege of working as a GC in various companies with different ownership structures. While all aim to maximize owner value, the daily work and project management in my department have presented diverse opportunities and challenges. Collaborating with head offices in Germany, France, and London differs from working with the state (the owner of the company I know work for). This has allowed me to combine cultural experience with situational leadership and legal expertise. It is the sum of these experiences that stands out. One example is explaining the Norwegian regulatory system to companies with entirely different regulatory environments, in connection with larger M&A deals. Not always easy, but all the more challenging and fun!

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?

An in-house lawyer must integrate into the business, be proactive in seeking knowledge, and provide insights that contribute to solutions. Furthermore, they must understand their professional responsibility and not hesitate to state right from wrong, even to top leadership. Stamina is crucial.

What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?

I am passionate about contributing to youth activities. I spend all my free time serving on NGO boards related to youth orchestras and football. It energises me and I love being involved in the lives of young people.
