Lucy Lopez is a widely recognized legal executive and business strategist with more than twenty-five years of experience guiding multinational organizations through periods of transformation, expansion, and organizational change. Renowned for her integrity, calm leadership, and pragmatic problem-solving, she has earned the trust of CEOs, boards, and senior stakeholders across industries. Her career reflects a consistent ability to navigate complexity, modernize governance, and strengthen institutions while championing people, culture, and longterm enterprise health.

Lucy currently serves as chief legal officer and corporate secretary at Spencer Stuart, a premier global leadership advisory firm operating across 30+ countries. Recruited to drive strategic transformation, she has led the redesign of governance and decision-making frameworks, ensuring the firm is positioned for future growth and increased organizational agility. She advises the Chair, Board, and CEO on sensitive and highstakes matters including succession planning, leadership elections, enterprise risk, and stakeholder strategy. Under her leadership, the Legal, Risk, and Sustainability teams function as strategic partners, aligned with evolving client demands and the firm’s longterm vision. Her work also includes strengthening enterprise resilience, elevating the role of risk management, enhancing crisis preparedness, and reinforcing brand integrity to support performance and talent attraction.

Before joining Spencer Stuart, Lucy spent 23 years at McKinsey & Company, where she played a pivotal role in the firm’s growth and expansion. As Deputy General Counsel and Head of Legal for the Americas, she oversaw legal strategy across multiple countries and helped scale the legal function to over 200 professionals. Her contributions spanned global office openings and the launch of new services. Lucy’s work helped shape McKinsey’s legal infrastructure during a period of significant global growth and innovation.

Lucy began her legal career at Debevoise & Plimpton, where she advised on crossborder M&A, financings, and joint ventures throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Her early work contributed to the expansion of the firm’s Latin America practice and included highprofile transactions for multinational clients.

A committed civic leader, Lucy has served for more than a decade on the Board and Executive Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City, including a term as Board President. Her contributions to the community have been recognized through multiple honors, including the City of New York Public Service Award, LatinoJustice Trailblazer Award, and the Dominican Bar Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Lucy holds a JD from the University of Pennsylvania and a magna cum laude BS from Fordham University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She is bilingual with native fluency in Spanish.
