What are the projects that you are most proud of working on over the past 12 months?
We achieved a significant victory at Chancery Court in a major Delaware litigation that began in 2018. We also assisted with and executed many important corporate initiatives.
Based on your experiences in the past year, are there any trends in the legal or business world that you are keeping an eye on that you think other in-house lawyers should be mindful of?
We are closely monitoring developments in Delaware corporate law and court practices. We are also closely monitoring the many changes in the regulatory environment.
What are the key things you prioritise to get the most out of your team?
I value engaged, inquisitive, and collaborative lawyers and other legal professionals who take ownership of their work.

Marc A. Alpert is Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of Loews Corporation.
He joined Loews in 2016 after 30 years at the international law firm Chadbourne & Parke, where he was head of the Public Companies Practice Group and a member of the firm’s management committee. Marc has extensive experience advising on strategic decisions, corporate transactions, securities, corporate governance, and dispute resolution matters.
As the chief legal officer and a member of Loews’ senior executive leadership team, Marc is responsible for managing the company’s legal affairs, including mergers, acquisitions, securities offerings, financings, litigation, SEC reporting, corporate governance, board matters, risk management, employee issues, real estate matters, commercial agreements, and strategic and operational initiatives. Loews is a Fortune 250, New York Stock Exchange-listed diversified holding company with subsidiaries in the insurance, energy, hospitality, and packaging industries.
Marc has received numerous recognitions, including an Alumni Achievement Award from Hofstra University and a Distinguished Alumni Award for achievement in business from the University at Buffalo School of Law. He was named to the Legal 500 US General Counsel Powerlist in 2019.
Marc has also been named five times to The BTI Consulting Group’s annual list of Law Firm Client Service All-Stars, based on interviews with approximately 250 senior corporate counsel at Fortune 1000 companies. He has been recognized as a ‘Leading Lawyer’ and a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ in Mergers and Acquisitions in several editions of The Legal 500 US.
Marc earned his B.B.A. in accounting, cum laude, from Hofstra University and his J.D., cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. He serves as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University and as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the University at Buffalo School of Law.
