About

Dounia Charrat is a polyglot legal expert with over 25 years of experience in both private and public sectors, specializing in insurance, real estate and tourism. Renowned for her expertise in governance, risk management and legal affairs, she has worked with leading global corporations and Moroccan national champions. Her professional acumen spans corporate due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and the negotiation of strategic partnerships. Currently, Dounia serves as General Counsel and Executive Board Member at Madaëf, the tourism branch of the “Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion”, a Moroccan public institution managing government and public funds to support economic and social development. In this role, she oversees the legal operations of numerous subsidiaries and a diverse portfolio of strategic assets. Her previous contributions include pivotal roles in landmark projects, such as the Mohammed VI Tower, Africa’s tallest building, the world’s first in situ relocation of a shantytown and the introduction of Morocco’s first health insurance for students. Holding advanced degrees in Business Law and Taxation, alongside a specialized diploma in insurance leadership, Dounia also lectures in Business Law at the International University of Rabat (UIR). In addition to her corporate responsibilities, she is Vice President of the Moroccan Association of Corporate In-House Lawyers and a professional coach. Beyond her professional achievements, Dounia is deeply committed to philanthropy, having led and contributed to several local initiatives, including Ladies Circle, Zero Berd and Jood.
