What are the most significant cases, projects and/or transactions that you and/or your legal team have recently been involved in?
We have recently launched several new products, which has involved onboarding new co-manufacturers and fostering close collaboration between our R&I and Food Law teams to ensure optimal packaging, claims, and communication strategies.
Managing a network of 13 production sites requires significant CAPEX investments and close oversight of quality, environmental standards, resource protection, and the safeguarding and adaptation of our license to operate. These responsibilities demand strong cross-functional collaboration from the Business Law team to successfully lead and support these strategic projects.
We are also actively managing ongoing litigations and legal challenges.
In parallel, new regulations are emerging, requiring the General Counsel team to develop new areas of expertise, which has led to targeted recruitment efforts and the implementation of tailored training programs.
How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
We approach these challenges with calm, transparent communication, effective cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive mindset toward risk management.
How can general counsel foster a corporate culture that supports ESG principles and compliance across all levels of the organisation?
For me, the only way to achieve true integration and success is by embedding compliance, sustainability, and ESG principles directly into the heart of the business as growth levers. When top management views and promotes ESG principles and compliance as integral parts of the business rather than separate entities, they become powerful drivers of progress. Compliance is not merely about conformity; ESG principles are essential components of fair business practice and can significantly contribute to securing the company’s future.
AI has been taken seriously as a potentially revolutionary technological change in the legal world for a number of years now. Has it had a meaningful impact in how your legal team works in this time?
For the moment, AI is consuming a certain amount of time for my team, as it’s crucial to allocate this time to pilot projects and accurately measure the true ROI of the solution. The selection of use cases, defining the pilot, and establishing key indicators are essential steps before committing to an expensive solution. Providers should invest more in helping companies to build strong use cases and improve their own solutions. In addition to these external solutions, it’s noteworthy that in-house solutions with the help of Copilot, sharepoint, digital assets can already bring significant efficiencies.
