Career Biography

María José Álvarez Barbosa is a senior legal executive with over 15 years of experience advising national and multinational companies across corporate, regulatory, labor, tax, and compliance matters. She currently serves as Legal & Corporate Affairs Manager at Heineken Ecuador, leading the company’s legal and corporate strategy in the country and as a Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce and Production.

Throughout her career, she has held key in-house and advisory roles, including Legal Manager at PwC Ecuador, where she advised major clients, contributed to digital transformation initiatives, and supported the implementation of personal data protection programs. She also served as in-house counsel for multinational companies in the beverage and mining sectors, including experience in cross-border legal advisory and construction contract administration for Canadian projects.
