Career Biography

As general counsel at AJECUADOR, an Ecuadorian subsidiary of AJEGROUP, for about 24 years now, I have played a pivotal role in consolidating the legal function as a strategic partner to executive management and a key contributor to business growth and sustainability, providing high-level legal advice to senior executives on corporate, commercial, regulatory, contractual and labor matters, extending my role beyond traditional legal oversight.

With that being said, the most significant achievement in this corporate sphere has been being part of the AJECUADOR team since the very beginning of its operations. It has been truly rewarding to see the company grow and develop from its earliest stages to later expand, modernising and diversifying into the solid and competitive company it is nowadays. For this reason, as a leader, what brings me greatest satisfaction is the connection with all AJECUADOR employees, creating a pleasant and meaningful environment for the superior performance of the tasks conducted in this company.

Manifold aspects have been achieved, such as the design and implementation of a preventive legal risk management approach, resulting in a minimum litigation exposure and strengthening contractual safeguards by handling negotiation strategies and ensuring agile business operations. This experience over time has allowed me to gain an in-depth understanding of the company and to act by its best interests to ensure its successful development in today’s market from a legal and corporate perspective.

Without any doubt, I consider the growth I have experienced as a woman leader in this business environment has become an important personal and professional accomplishment, which has allowed me to advance my career into other fields. Being part of the transformation process has given me a profound sense of purpose, as growth did not happen overnight, it needed strategic decisions, discipline and teamwork.

Beyond my professional trajectory, I evolved from managing legal operations to leading with strategic vision and cross-functional influence by developing structured workflows among a cultivated cross-department relationship and dealing with external parties such as clients and suppliers. With that foundation, we can collaboratively design legal and commercial structures that are workable, customised, and fully integrated with the company’s aims, as by embracing this internal transformation in perspective, the legal function evolves into a strategic and meaningful impact.

Ultimately, my achievements are not measured solely by professional milestones, but by the positive impact created with the organisation, helping build a company culture based on respect, opportunity and empowerment for all. Therefore, for over more than two decades in the company, I have played a significant role in transforming the legal function into a strategic pillar that supports sustainable growth and operational excellence, as my contribution extends beyond a traditional advisory, as it is essential to ensure that corporate strategies are aligned with maintaining business agility and competitiveness.
