How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

During times of instability or crisis, I focus on maintaining a positive attitude and fostering strong communication within the legal team to encourage collaboration and mutual support. I prioritise aligning our legal strategy with the organisation’s broader leadership strategy to ensure that legal remains fully integrated with business objectives. This alignment is critical to maintaining operational resilience.

I ensure that legal team members remain informed and engaged by regularly reviewing any updates to the legal approach, as agreed with leadership. This collaborative process helps keep everyone focused and motivated, even in challenging circumstances. I also place great importance on motivating the team to stay calm and proactive. I believe that moments of crisis can often serve as catalysts for positive change — they offer opportunities to learn, adapt, and ultimately improve the way we work.

What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

I have been involved in several key agreements recently, including:

  • A technology services agreement covering the design, configuration, development, and technological operation of a digital distribution platform for streaming and video content.

  • A transformational agreement aimed at modernising a client’s technology infrastructure through managed infrastructure and application services, leveraging Generative AI tools such as GenWizard to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.

  • A technology-focused agreement to enhance the efficiency of a client’s collections processes by applying tailored tech solutions to improve asset recovery.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

Generative AI is one of the most impactful emerging technologies for the legal profession. It represents a new phase in AI’s evolution, capable of creating original content based on trained models such as large language models (LLMs) or foundation models. GenAI will significantly streamline legal work, including due diligence, drafting contracts, reviewing evidence, and managing legal documentation, by identifying patterns within vast data sets.

At Accenture, we are proactively embracing these tools. Our approach includes:

  • Training our legal and business teams on the responsible use of GenAI;

  • Developing a robust responsible AI policy and framework;

  • Raising awareness of potential legal and ethical risks;

  • Conducting legal assessments and establishing guardrails to protect both Accenture’s and our clients’ data;

  • Integrating GenAI into our legal operations and encouraging continuous learning and adoption across our teams.
