How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

In times of crisis and instability, I seek even greater proximity and partnership with the business areas. I seek to deeply understand the challenges and needs of the business, to ensure that my team and I are moving in the direction the company needs. Thus, we can together provide legal solutions that not only protect the company’s interests but are also fundamental to driving business forward.

What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

Recently, our main challenges have been to support the business in structuring collaboration contracts for technological innovation and long-term supply partnerships, amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars. We have also tried to support alternative ways of doing transactional business, with the intention of finding more flexible ways to meet the credit demands of our clients.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

Artificial Intelligence is, without a doubt, the technology that will have the greatest impact on the legal scenario in the short term. I have been working with my team to understand the different ways to use this type of technology wisely, so that we can be more effective in our work and, at the same time, ensure that its use is conscious and safe. We have also been closely monitoring the regulations on Artificial Intelligence in Brazil and abroad, to guide the use of these technologies in business in an appropriate manner.

How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?

Diversity and inclusion are fundamental elements in the workplace and in life in general. Knowing how to respect differences and benefit from them allows us all to grow together and improves the quality of relationships and, in the case of the company, the decision-making process, as more points of view are brought to the table. On my team, I try to have different age groups, experience levels, gender and race, and whenever we have changes in the team, I try to be intentional in choosing the new member, so that we can ensure diversity of perspectives.
