What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past 12 months?

Over the past 12 months, our department has been heavily involved in a significant number of M&A projects, including both investments and divestments. These activities are closely linked to the company’s strategic objective of pursuing an expansive growth course. One of our key responsibilities has been managing the legal and organisational integration of acquired entities into the Group, particularly with regard to corporate governance structures and compliance standards.

In parallel, the department has been working intensively on data protection matters as well as the implementation and further development of compliance measures across the organisation. A major focus has also been on the certification of our compliance management system, which represents an important step in strengthening governance and transparency within the Group. In addition, the legal department played a substantial role in handling a complex public law matter, requiring close coordination with both internal stakeholders and external authorities. What strategies do you employ to ensure the successful digital transformation of a legal department while maintaining compliance with your country’s data protection laws? We rely on a combination of internally developed digital solutions created by our in-house IT department and externally sourced software solutions. This balanced approach allows us to adapt technological tools to the specific operational and legal requirements of the business while remaining flexible and efficient. A key success factor is the close integration of data protection officers into the departmental structure and project workflows. Their early involvement ensures that legal and regulatory considerations are addressed from the outset, enabling immediate legal certainty and reducing implementation risks during digital transformation initiatives.

What do you think sets you apart from other in-house counsel?

I would not claim that there is one specific characteristic that fundamentally distinguishes me from other in-house counsel. In general, in-house lawyers are required to be highly flexible due to the broad range of legal areas they encounter and the often demanding workload they manage on a daily basis. What may make a difference over the long term is a combination of perseverance, consistency, and the ability to adapt to changing business environments while maintaining a practical, solution-oriented mindset.
