What do you think sets you apart from other in-house counsel?
What sets me apart as an in-house counsel is my ability to bridge legal precision with strategic business insight. I don’t just focus on what the law says, I focus on how to apply it in a way that supports the company’s goals while protecting its reputation and values. I see myself as a business partner first, not just as a legal gatekeeper.
What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?
A modern in-house counsel must be business-minded, solution-oriented and proactive. It is not just knowing the law, but about applying it strategically to enable smart risk-taking, ensure compliance and support company’s growth.
How can general counsel foster a corporate culture that supports ESG principles and compliance across all levels of the organisation?
General counsel can lead by embedding ESG and compliance into the company’s core values, aligning them with business strategy and ensuring they are reflected in policies, training and leadership behavior. By partnering with all the departments of a company and setting a tone of accountability from the top, they make ESG and compliance part of the everyday decision-making process.
