Responsible for the general oversight of legal services to all the businesses and Barclays entities and for general legal risk management in India, Mohit Shukla has led the legal team through a number of successful transactions since joining in 2010. Amassing an abundance of legal experience, Shukla previously worked at Citibank for nine years and brings a large amount of relevant experience, with nominators saying: ‘He has over 20 years of work experience which includes a diverse background, including the metals manufacturing, tobacco and hospitality industries, prior to financial services first with the ANZ Group (ANZ Grindlays Bank Limited in India)’. The team has an excellent grasp of operating in all relevant locations, utilising its high level of inter-geographical financial knowledge and expertise. Through its subsidiaries the Barclays group employs high-quality legal talent that support the bank’s global operations and technology development. Forming part of its exceptional talent, the team has contributed to Barclays’ commitment to growing its India franchise, evidenced by the over $800m of capital it has invested in the bank in India, one of the largest capital commitments by any foreign bank. Additionally, the M&A advisory business achieved recognition in the industry press, further evidencing its competence to complete deals in the investment banking sphere.
