Career Biography
With over twelve years of legal experience, Leandro built a career that blends professional practice with academic research. Since 2020, is part of the legal team at BBVA in Uruguay, where he provides strategic advice on corporate and financial matters, supports key institutional projects, and contributes to initiatives linked mostly to sustainability and responsible finance.
Academic credentials include an LL.M. from Queen Mary University of London, earned as a recipient of the Chevening Scholarship—award granted by the UK government to professionals with outstanding leadership potential. This international experience broadened his perspective on law and deepened his expertise in financial regulation and comparative law.
Before joining BBVA, Leandro spent five years at FERRERE Abogados, where he advised on corporate matters and complex transactions for clients across multiple industries. This period was instrumental in consolidating skills in high-stakes negotiations and corporate governance.
In parallel with his legal career, Leandro has remained engaged in academia, teaching Financial Law as an Assistant Professor thorough 2016-2017, as well as leading professional development programs. In 2017 Leandro served as an associate researcher in London, contributing to a study on corporate tax evasion. His scholarly work resulted in numerous articles, including the book he published in 2018 “El nuevo CPP, las Instrucciones Generales, y otras reflexiones de derecho comparado” with Fundación de Cultura Universitaria.
Certified as an ESG Advisor by EFPA Spain and trained in Socially Responsible Investment at Spain’s IEB, brings to his legal work a focus on sustainability and ethical business practices.
