Career Biography

Christopher Leonard joined Elliott in 2017 and, reporting to the global general counsel and chief legal officer, is responsible for legal, compliance and regulatory matters in the UK and continental Europe. Leonard has led teams of external and internal counsel advising on Elliott’s investments across Europe and Asia, including in respect of public equity activism, stressed and distressed debt, private equity, real estate, structured products and commodities. Leonard has also advised in respect of litigations and international arbitrations in forums including the English high court and court of appeal, the cours de cassations in France, Belgium and Luxembourg, the Enterprise Chamber in the Netherlands and the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the The Hague.

Prior to joining Elliott, Leonard was a partner and co-head of Akin’s financial regulatory group in London.  He graduated from the London School of Economics with a joint honours degree in Law and Social Anthropology and trained with and qualified at Allen & Overy in London and Milan.
