Richemont
Richemont, the Swiss owner of Cartier and Montblanc, has had to deal with a changing and challenging market for luxury goods in recent months. A slowdown in the travelling luxury consumer market – particularly in Europe – has eaten into sales recently, and market has become so challenging that Richemont has taken the exceptional step of repurchasing and dismantling its old stock. However, in the face of these challenges the legal team, led by general counsel Cédric Bossert, has been a source of stability. Offering essential support that allows Richemont Maisons to enter new markets swiftly and effectively, the legal team has played a large part in helping the company capitalise on the growing demand for luxury goods in the developing world. The company has also invested in manufacturing facilities, largely in Switzerland, and made additions to its worldwide network of boutiques.
