Career Biography
Sandra Reddy is a remarkable commercial, legal, and strategic business leader and advisor, with a robust foundation in the financial services sector. Her career is marked by significant roles as a legal adviser, general counsel, board adviser, and charity trustee. With a practice spanning transactional work and strategic legal advisory both in private practice and as an in-house counsel, across the UK, Europe and APAC, Sandra has consistently demonstrated her expertise and dedication to excellence.
Currently, Sandra serves as the Director and Head of Core Legal APAC at MUFG Bank, Ltd., where she leads the core legal team in Singapore and other APAC offices. Her responsibilities encompass regional regulatory legal advisory, including matters related to cybersecurity, data management and artificial intelligence, global financial crime legal advisory, employment law issues, and managing vendor, outsourcing, and inter-affiliate agreements. Additionally, Sandra is tasked with enhancing legal operational efficiencies including litigation management, legal policy and procedures, and legal risk management, including managing external legal spend.
Prior to her current role, Sandra was the Director and Head of the EMEA IBOR Legal Team at MUFG Securities. In this capacity, she played a pivotal part in managing the legal remediation and transition to risk-free rates (RFRs), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Her work involved coordinating with key stakeholders across APAC, Japan and US offices, developing legal operating models, and managing relationships with external legal advisors and auditors. Sandra’s leadership was instrumental in transitioning all IBOR-linked contracts and transactions to RFRs.
Sandra’s career also includes a significant tenure at Ambac Assurance UK Ltd, where she served as General Counsel and a member of the Executive Management Group. She provided leadership in legal and commercial advice on structured finance projects across the UK and Europe. Her expertise in structured finance, securitisation, and credit derivatives was crucial in negotiating key transaction documents and mitigating exposure to risk. Sandra also managed litigation matters and oversaw corporate and regulatory compliance.
Earlier in her career, Sandra held roles at Ashurst LLP, Linklaters, and Clifford Chance, where she honed her skills in structured finance and securitisation.
In addition to her professional achievements, Sandra is committed to governance and community service. She serves as a trustee for Isabel Hospice Trust, volunteers at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and considers a key career highlight her work on the first Vaccine Bonds issued by the International Finance Facility for Immunisation Company (IFFIm), which serves as a role model for socially responsible investing in global development. These activities showcase her dedication to making a positive impact on society.
