Team size: 6

What are the most significant cases and/or transactions that you have been involved in over the past year?

I was involved in a transaction to acquire another company’s assets, which involved acquisition of inventory, employees transfer and receivables. The transaction was complex and required competition clearance and detailed due diligence. Another was related to a case filed by a company to revoke a settlement agreement and claim damages. We were able to prove that the settlement was done properly, and the case was dismissed.

What innovations have you made to the way your legal team works in the past year?

The tracking of workload and work distribution through API, which also allowed the business to see its workload and status with the legal department.

Based on your experience, what is the key to collaborating successfully with business partners?

Transparent, open, regular discussions and meetings and legal training at different levels of the business units.

Which political, economic or regulatory changes have impacted your work the most in the past year?

I believe the shift of the personal data protection law had a significant impact, which required massive work and compliance readiness.

Apart from legal matters, has the team worked on other company initiatives you would like to highlight?

We worked on the company strategy, along with other team members, which supported the understanding and aligned the efforts and future outlook.

What do you think are the key things to remember to motivate and manage the other members of your legal team?

Recognising the efforts and the hard work of the team.

What is a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about, and why?

One thing I am deeply passionate about is respect, which is, I believe, a key factor in fostering the right culture across the organisation. Respect is multi-dimensional: it is for the colleagues, employees, vendors, suppliers and the community.

Are the effects of AI on the legal world overplayed, or underplayed?

The effects of AI on the legal world are both overplayed and underplayed, depending on the perspective.

On one hand, AI’s ability to automate legal research, contract analysis, and document review is often overhyped, with some suggesting it could replace lawyers entirely. While AI can enhance efficiency, it lacks the nuanced judgment, ethical reasoning, and strategic thinking that legal professionals provide.

On the other hand, AI’s impact is underplayed in terms of its long-term potential. It is transforming legal practice by improving predictive analytics, streamlining compliance, and making legal services more accessible. The key lies in integrating AI as a powerful tool to support, rather than replace, human expertise in the legal field.
