What innovations have you made to the way your legal team works in the past year?
Leveraging my computer engineering background, I have led initiatives to modernise our legal operations and streamline our commercial workstream. We introduced a digital intake portal and standardised workflows to handle everything from commercial requests to litigation matters — covering pre-litigation analysis, document review, negotiation, and court proceedings. Integrated collaboration tools now provide real-time updates with business units and senior leadership. We are currently rolling out an advanced legal management system — complete with centralised dashboards, automated reporting, and predictive analytics — to boost efficiency, transparency, and strategic alignment. These enhancements have elevated legal into a proactive business partner and co-driver of corporate strategy, underpinned by data-driven insights and business-friendly processes.
What are the most significant cases and transactions that you have been involved in over the past year?
Over the past year, our team has managed a litigation portfolio with claims up to SAR 250m while handling more than 5,500 commercial requests annually. Thanks to the aforementioned innovations and streamlined workflows, we pursue litigation more efficiently and effectively — achieving consistently successful outcomes — while remaining agile and responsive to the evolving needs of the business.
What do you think are the key things to remember to motivate and manage the other members of your legal team?
To highlight our team’s contributions, we have enhanced internal communications to celebrate key achievements and demonstrate the impact of our legal work on strategic objectives. These efforts have strengthened morale and fostered a culture of recognition and collaboration across the organisation.
These legal transformations, innovations, and initiatives — alongside broader company-wide efforts — have played a pivotal role in improving the company’s performance, as reflected in recent positive announcements and an optimistic outlook.
